Make Your Summer Feet Summer Sweet!

Fill a basin with a gallon of warm water. You can add a little baking soda, epsom salts or bath oil to make your feet soft and smooth! Soak your feet for 20 minutes. Then pat feet dry with a towel.

Sometimes the cuticles on our toes and fingers grow too far and cover our nails. You can very gently push them back with towel wrapped around your finger while the skin is soft. It might be best to check with your mom.

Use a pumice stone or sloughing cream to remove dry skin and flakiness.Be careful not to rub too hard!

Turn your attention to your toenails. Clean under nail tips and clip.Work slowly so that nails that have been weakened do not tear or split from filing that is too rough. Be very gentle or ask your mom to show her technique!

Next, you are ready for the best part ... picking out a color of polish you like! See our list of the three kinds of polishes you’ll need.

For each polish, do a thin coat and let the polish dry in between Do not be tempted to apply a lot of polish. Thick coats do not dry for a long time! Make sure to wear open toe shoes or sandals for at least a day following your pedicure. You don’t want to mess up your hard work!

THREE KINDS OF NAIL POLISH

When it comes to polishing, you need to apply three separate coats!

BASE COAT: First is the base coat. It is generally clear in color and may have vitamins or other ingredients to strengthen your nails.

It helps the color adhere to the nails better and it protects the nail underneath.

COLOR: Then comes the color of your choice. There are many choices of fun shades. If you are new at polishing your own nails you may want to choose a clear color or a soft shade since it’s easier to hide little mistakes!

TOP COAT: Finally, you are ready to apply a top coat used for protecting your nail polish from chipping. Some of these polishes come in a quick dying formula, which is perfect for a girl on the run!
